H@R! : Heritage at Risk

SINGAPORE

The city has practically been completely rebuilt over the last decades. Due to the far reaching modern redevelopment not only the historic living quarters, but also the social and cultural ways of life of the inhabitants have been increasingly lost. The few surviving historic "Shop-Houses" serve today only as a façade for tourists. Singapore has almost completely given up its historic roots from the perspective of its built heritage.
