Dinu Bumbaru a une formation en architecture de l'Université de
Montréal, complétée d'études en patrimoine à l'ICCROM (1988) et à l'Université
de York (1994) où il a obtenu un diplôme de maîtrise en conservation. Depuis 1982, il
travaille à Héritage Montréal, association indépendante qui ouvre par des publications,
de l'éducation populaire et professionnelle ou des représentations par les médias, à la
protection du patrimoine historique, culturel et naturel. Il est actuellement directeur des
programmes de cet organisme. Par ailleurs, Dinu Bumbaru participe, depuis plus de
15 ans, aux actions de l'ICOMOS, d'abord au sein d'ICOMOS Canada puis, depuis 1993,
comme membre élu du Comité exécutif international. En janvier 1992, il fut dépêché
par l'UNESCO, à Dubrovnik alors ville assiégée. Plus particulièrement, il a contribué
au développement des initiatives de l'ICOMOS en matière de planification stratégique, de
mesures d'urgence et de relation avec d'autres réseaux professionnels ou associatifs.
A graduate in architecture of Université de Montréal, Dinu Bumbaru studied
conservation at ICCROM (1988) and University of York (1994) where he received a
masters degree in conservation studies. Since 1982, he has been working for Héritage
Montréal, an independent association aimed at enhancing the protection of historical, cultural
and natural heritage, through publication, community education or professional training as well
as media representations. He is currently Director of programmes for the organisation. In
addition, Dinu Bumbaru has been an active participant in ICOMOS for over 15 years, first in
ICOMOS Canada and later as an elected member of the International Executive Committee. In
1992, UNESCO sent him to the then besieged city of Dubrovnik to assess damage and since, he
has been particularly interested in helping ICOMOS in its initiatives on Risk Preparedness. He
also contributed to ICOMOS strategic planning process and the development of links with other
organisational or professional networks.
