Nous sommes tous des membres de l'ICOMOS puisque nous sommes des professionnels dans
le domaine du patrimoine culturel. C'est justement pour cela que je crois fortement
que l'ICOMOS doit être, avant tout, un réseau de professionnels. Nous devons promouvoir
les capacités de nos membres individuels; et faire en sorte de donner à chaque membre
la même possibilité de participer aux programmes et aux activités de l'ICOMOS. Nous devons
élargir notre base de données concernant les membres et nous devons nous en servir.
L'ICOMOS international doit soutenir les Comités Nationaux, surtout ceux qui
fonctionnent selon les règles. Nous sommes tous conscients que certains Comités font
face à des périodes difficiles et que, dans ces circonstances, nous devons essayer
de les aider afin d'assurer leur participation aux activités de l'ICOMOS.De plus, nous
devons garantir que tout notre travail sera suivi par un nombre convenable de représentants régionaux.
Nous devons viser à encourager ceux qui désirent et méritent d'être membres
de l'ICOMOS à le devenir. Un membre doit être accepté en tant que professionnel et
non simplement parce que le Comité National accepte la personne.
Les Comités Scientifiques doivent être ouverts à tous les membres de l'ICOMOS qui ont
le droit d'y jouer un rôle actif.
Je présente ma candidature comme Secrétaire Général car, au cours des années
qui vont suivre, je désire consacrer mon travail principalement à l'ICOMOS. Ma formation
professionnelle est directement liée au travail dans le domaine concerné, à la solution
des problèmes quotidiens concernant la gestion des projets. J'ai également une très
grande expérience dans le domaine de l'administration, aussi bien dans mon activité
politique qu'au niveau pratique.
Je peux vous assurer que je serai le Secrétaire Général de tous: je travaillerai avec
les autres officiers afin que l'ICOMOS jouisse de la plus haute considération au niveau
de l'UNESCO et des autres organisations ; je coopérerai et coordonnerai les différentes
situations avec les autres organisations concernées, je garderai les liens avec nos
membres et encouragerai des programmes d'activités innovateurs impliquant le
plus grand nombre de membres individuels et de régions.
We are all members of ICOMOS because we are professionals in the field of cultural heritage. I strongly believe that ICOMOS should therefore primarily be a network of professionals. We must promote the capabilities of our individual members and we must make sure that each and every member has the same opportunity to participate in the programmes and activities of ICOMOS . We must increase the database of information we have about individual members and make use of that database.
ICOMOS international must also support the National Committees, especially those that function according to the rules. We all know that some of the Committees face difficult periods and we must try to support them during those difficulties to make sure that they participate in the activities of ICOMOS. We must also ensure that in all our work there is a good regional representation.
We have to reach out to encourage more members, to make sure that anyone who deserves to be a member does become one. A member has to be accepted as a professional and not simply because the National Committee accepts the person. The Scientific Committees must also be open to all ICOMOS members that have the right to be active in these committees.
I am standing for the position of Secretary General because I wish to dedicate my work in the next years primarily to ICOMOS. My background is that of working in the field, of facing the everyday problems of running projects. But I also have vast experience in administration, both due to my political activity background and to what I have done on a practical level.
I believe very strongly in making sure that I will be the Secretary General of everyone, working with the other officers, to make sure that ICOMOS is fully respected at UNESCO and other organizations, cooperating and coordinating with by other organisations in our field, keeping in touch with our members and trying to come up with innovative programmes of activity that will involve as many individual members and regions as possible.
