En tant que candidat au Comité Exécutif de l'ICOMOS aux élections 2002, je me permets d'exprimer la vision du Comité grec sur l'avenir de notre organisme.
Nous considérons que l'ICOMOS est une ONG qui doit évoluer vers un organisme scientifique et professionnel et structurer un profil de groupe de pression pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine de l'Humanité, et dont l'activité doit dépasser les frontières nationales et s'étendre au monde entier.
Par conséquent nous considérons comme importants les points suivants:
1. Modernisation des structures d'organisation au niveau des Comités Nationaux et des Comités Scientifiques Internationaux.
2. Actualisation et efficacité de la présentation de l'ICOMOS auprès des organismes, des gouvernementaux internationaux ou nationaux.
3. Transparence absolue au niveau de la gestion et meilleure distribution du support financier ICOMOS aux Comités Nationaux et Comités Internationaux Scientifiques selon leurs objectifs et leurs activités.
4. Publication immédiate de la liste d'experts ICOMOS. Transparence de la procédure d'expertise.
5. Meilleure information et transparence de la gestion des programmes de l'Union Européenne, qui peuvent élargir la participation des Comités Nationaux de l'ICOMOS.
6. Régionalisation des activités de l'ICOMOS particulièrement dans les cas de l'Europe Sud-Est et de la Méditerranée, régions très riches en patrimoine, menacées aujourd'hui par la crise économique, les conflits et la guerre.
7 Acquisition d'un nouveau siège social pour l'ICOMOS dans le centre de Paris.
In view of my candidacy for the ICOMOS Executive Committee in the 2002 elections, I hereby wish to express the aspirations of the Greek Committee with respect to the future of our organisation.
We consider ICOMOS to be an NGO with a duty to develop into a scientific and professional organisation in such a way as to successfully form a lobby dedicated to safeguarding the heritage of humanity, the activities of which should go beyond national borders and really be felt throughout the world.
In the light of such considerations, we deem the following aspects to be of paramount importance for our cause:
1. Modernisation of organisational structures at the level of the National Committees as well as of the International Scientific Committees.
2. Updating and enhancing the efficiency of ICOMOS' presence and interventions before national and international governmental organisations.
3. Ensuring full transparency at the management level as well as optimising the distribution of ICOMOS financial assistance provided to National and International Scientific Committees according to their objectives and activities.
4. Immediate publication of the ICOMOS experts database while at the same time ensuring transparency of the process of expertise.
5. Improving information and ensuring higher transparency the management of EU programs likely to encourage higher participation by the ICOMOS National Committees.
6. Endowing ICOMOS activities with a more pronounced regional focus, with special emphasis on those activities undertaken in South-East Europe and the Mediterranean, those being regions of particular cultural wealth and currently faced with the threat of economic crisis, conflicts and war.
7. Establishing a new international seat for ICOMOS in downtown Paris.
